In today’s Seattle Times, there is an article about Rainier Ave and the many accidents that occur along this main Seattle street. The city and department of transportation are posting billboards that are supposed to dissuade drivers from speeding. There have been more car wrecks and hit pedestrians on this street than any other in Seattle (by far!). While I realize that this is in most part due to speeding and idiots who jay-walk during heavy traffic, perhaps if south Seattle had more than 6 police officers on duty at any given time for roughly 25% of the city, maybe we would see less accidents. Police presence generally causes people to slow down and drive more cautiously (at least while the police are in view). Maybe the city should invest in more police officers rather than waste their money on billboards (that are probably in English and cannot be read by half of south Seattle’s residents).

I don’t really care much that one religious zealot is protesting another religious zealot. My question is, where do the Phelps’ get their money? They are always flying around the country protesting. Their church is made up of other family members, so it isn’t like their donations floweth over.

A runner from Issaquah went missing on Friday after leaving home to run Cougar Mountain. After an extensive search of the area, authorities called it off over the weekend. Now, the runner mysteriously shows up, claiming that he fell down a ravine and was unconscious for 3 days. He has no injuries and required no medical attention. What? Please…
Remember that lady with the crazy eyes who fled her wedding? Does Washington have our own runaway runner? How long before he admits he was off doing something he shouldn’t…

Tonight I had jazz rehearsal on Capitol Hill. Anthony also had to work late. Despite being done at 9PM, we
didn’t get home until a little after 10:30PM on the bus. One would think that in such a technologically advanced city, we would have great mass transit. NOT SO. Basically, we have a bus system that is routinely late and inconvenient. In a little over a year, Seattle is supposed to open LINK, our new light rail. I hope it is better than our current system!!
