Seattle’s New Streetcar

Seattle’s new streetcar is almost ready for passengers. I have read several negative comments about this new transit option, mainly cause it is at the mercy of traffic, like buses. What these nay-sayers don’t realize is that streetcars are generally much more efficient than buses. Usually, the platform is raised, so even chair-bound people don’t have to wait for a lift, you pre-pay, and they are fully electric. This reduces the amount of time during stops and reduces carbon emissions to zero. I think this city needs many more of these streetcars, especially in neighborhoods like West Seattle, Ballard, and Capitol Hill. They are relatively cheap and quick to build.
