I don’t know nothing about the homosexual

A Canadian hockey player had pictures surface of him being kissed by a man. His response, when asked if he is gay was: “I don’t know nothing about the homosexual.”
The homosexual? Are we some sort of conglomerate? Singular? Maybe he meant he didn’t know anything about the trick he picked up.

He’s a hot Czech hockey player. Not necessarily a great English speaker.
